The client brief

Their work already carried weight. The website needed to carry it, too.

SoFlo Backyards came to the project with an existing website that had begun to feel dated beside the quality and scale of the work they were completing. They wanted a new digital presence with the confidence of a yacht brand: dark, polished, coastal, and unmistakably professional.

The goal was to elevate their expertise and create greater visual separation from competing dock and marine construction companies. Every part of the page needed to communicate care, capability, and familiarity with the waterfront environments their clients were trusting them to transform.

The final direction became a single-page portfolio built entirely from scratch, with enough depth to establish authority and enough clarity to move a prospective client toward an estimate.

The repositioning

The new site needed to feel closer to the waterfront properties their clients imagined themselves enjoying.

I developed a darker visual system inspired by yachts, marina materials, deep water, polished surfaces, and the restrained luxury associated with South Florida waterfront living. The design gives project photography room to carry the story while the interface remains composed and easy to navigate.

The one-page format keeps the experience direct. Visitors move from the company’s promise into its expertise, completed work, client proof, service areas, and inquiry path without losing the momentum created by the hero.

Writing the company into focus

The copy needed to explain the work with the same confidence as the visual system.

I wrote the copy across the entire website, shaping the company’s services, positioning, project descriptions, credibility language, testimonials, service-area references, and calls to action into one consistent voice.

The language centers their marine construction expertise while staying understandable to homeowners who may know what they want from their waterfront and still need guidance on the construction path. The site repeatedly returns to durability, code-compliant work, coastal conditions, premium materials, and the experience of living beside the finished result.

01

Reframe the brand

A yacht-inspired visual direction gave the company a more elevated and recognizable position within its market.

02

Write the story

Full-site copy clarified the services, expertise, project work, service areas, and reasons clients could trust the team.

03

Build the system

The single-page website was hand-coded from scratch with responsive layouts, custom interactions, project galleries, and a tailored inquiry flow.

04

Strengthen discovery

Technical SEO, internal structure, external listings, and backlink support helped build a stronger search foundation.

Built beneath the surface

The quieter technical decisions carry just as much responsibility as the visual ones.

The website was developed as a custom Next.js build rather than a preassembled theme. That gave me control over the responsive behavior, interface details, performance, metadata, structured content, and the way project imagery moves through the page.

Firebase stores the company’s project images, creating a practical foundation for maintaining and expanding the portfolio. The architecture keeps the page visually rich while separating its image storage from the application itself.

97%Overall SEO score

The completed audit reflects a strong technical and content foundation.

100%Internal SEO

The on-site structure, metadata, content, links, and technical signals were completed.

3%External opportunity

The remaining improvement area sits primarily within continued off-site authority and backlink development.

CloudFirebase media system

Project photography is stored through Firebase for easier management and portfolio growth.

The inquiry path

The final section needed to feel simple for the visitor and carefully defended beneath the surface.

I developed a custom inquiry form at the bottom of the page so visitors could move directly from viewing the work into describing their waterfront goals.

The form includes rate limiting, honeypot fields, validation, and additional bot protections. These systems reduce automated abuse while keeping the visible experience calm and straightforward for a real prospective client.

Authority beyond the website

Search visibility also depends on the places where a company appears outside its own domain.

I gave the client a backlink and business-listing plan, then helped establish many of the recommended profiles. That work strengthened the company’s external presence and brought the site close to its full SEO target shortly after launch.

The remaining opportunity is ongoing by nature. Search authority grows as the business earns more project mentions, directory consistency, reviews, local citations, and relevant links over time.

Across every viewport

The darker atmosphere needed to retain its clarity from marina-sized screens to the phone in a homeowner’s hand.

The desktop experience gives project imagery and typography room to feel expansive. On mobile, the content becomes a more immediate sequence of promise, expertise, proof, and contact.

Every section was refined independently across breakpoints so the page could preserve its visual authority without sacrificing readability, form usability, or the prominence of the next step.

Expertise deserves a digital presence that can carry its weight before anyone asks for proof.

What the project clarified

A website can become part of the evidence that a company is ready for larger work.

SoFlo Backyards became an exercise in translating physical craftsmanship into digital authority. The website needed to express the precision, durability, and care already present in the company’s completed docks, seawalls, and waterfront structures.

The final result brings design, copy, development, search strategy, image infrastructure, and inquiry protection into one cohesive system. Each part supports the same outcome: helping the right visitor recognize the company’s expertise and feel confident beginning the conversation.
